From the comments I’ve received on this piece, though, it appears that I’m just wired differently than the parents who compartmentalize their lives to that extent.
I’m a working parent and right now, I literally forgot the water boiling on the stove for about a half-hour. However, forget my kids in the car? Never.
So whether it’s my arrogance or my simple inability to comprehend how a parent would forget their kid in the car all day, I just don’t get it.
